A Time for Travel It’s May! It’s May! The winter has receded into our memories and we find that April showers do bring May flowers. Personally, I like a four season climate with so many months from which to choose from as a favorite. Both spring and fall have months that contend as favorites for me. April, May, June. And the fall, with the foliage in September and October. May is the month that sometimes slips under the radar. With warm, not too hot temperatures, low humidity, one can get a base for your summer tan in just ten minutes a day. This time of the year brings a renewed interest in travel. Thank goodness. We all need a time to get away now and then. A time of renewing.
Now this was a 15-day trip which included cruising to Hawaii, four-island stops, return to the west coast to Ensenada, Mexico, and back up to L.A. And of course, the return flight to Pittsburgh. Wow! Now that’s a trip! Not as long as some trips taken, but more than enough this time for the two of us. Our second stop in Hawaii was the island of Ohau where our friends’ son Tony lives. He was our personal escort for a day in Honolulu. Among our many stops was Waikiki Beach (of course), Diamond Head, and Turtle Bay Resort (awesome!). The highlight of the day was a seaside picnic that was prepared by Tony, who is a chef no less. This issue marks the beginning of the 28th year of publishing Pittsburgh Point magazine. During this time I’ve been fortunate enough to have traveled to many places. But no matter how much or how far I travel, Pittsburgh still remains someplace special. Wherever you may find your copy of Point, I hope you too will find and remember Pittsburgh as someplace special. A. Robert Scott Current
