Jimmy John's Delivers

Just as February is the month to honor presidents and May is the month that sets aside a day for mothers, June is the month that has a day to honor Dad.

And that’s as it should be. It’s as fundamental as the scriptural injunction, “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour” (Rom 13:7) And the Fifth Commandment which says, “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” (Exodus 20:12)

This month’s cover features Jimmy John’s. The brainchild of Jimmy John Liautaud, after high school, the 19-year-old planned to open a hot dog stand.

After doing due diligence, and visiting hot dog stands in the Chicago area, he stumbled on an idea that at the time was a more affordable business option.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches opened for business on January 13, 1983.

That first restaurant opened with the help of a little seed money from his father—$25,000—to start the business. Going to Dad always reminds me of the French Proverb that says, “A father is a banker provided by nature.”

From humble beginnings, today Jimmy John’s 700-plus locations across the country offer delivery and dine-in services.

America’s #1 sandwich delivery experts are found locally downtown in the heart of the Golden Triangle at 506 Liberty Avenue.

Be sure to check them out. You’ll find their ad elsewhere in this issue with some tasty selections listed.

Jimmy John’s. Be sure to call or stop by. You won’t be disappointed.
