Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! Where has the summer gone? Can you believe it is September already? Is it just me who feels time is passing quickly? No, I don’t think so. Many that I’ve spoken to, relatives as well as business associates have expressed as much to me. Technically, summer still has three weeks remaining this month. And then glorious October and Indian Summer. But here in Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania the feeling has been that summer ends with Labor Day and Fall begins. Wow! What a year this has been so far. The Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl, the city and the Pittsburgh Pirates hosted baseball’s All-Star Game & Fanfest, and just last night (August 10th) my wife and I got to enjoy the incomparable Tony Bennett at Heinz Hall. Did I say incomparable? Legend also works when it comes to ‘the one who left his heart in San Francisco’ At age 80, he’s still the consummate performer, at least on that particular evening. But, that’s last month and the calendar reads September. And chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re in a Pittsburgh hotel room or lobby. Welcome. I hope you have a wonderful visit. If you’re a first-timer to the city, you may be surprised. The rivers are clean, the skies clear, and the sun does shine in The Steel City. Really! This particular issue of Point focuses on the Airport Area, and Airport Corridor which extends from Dowtown along the Parkway West to Pittsburgh International Airport. The airport corridor includes lodging and accommodations with easy access to downtown as well as the airport. Restaurants abound as do shopping opportunities, such as The Mall at Robinson. All of this is anchored by a world-class airport. On the cover for September is India Garden, a popular restaurant on Atwood Street in the Oakland section of the city. This month’s dining review features The Original Fish Market Restaurant. Check out the article and see if you don’t want to catch a great seafood experience. Many new advertisers appear for the first time in this issue. Among them are Isoldi’s on the Strip and Pure. Both opened last month and are located in the Strip District. Isoldi’s serves Italian while Pure is the newest endeavor on the nightclub scene. The two are under the same ownership and in the same building. New also to the pages this month is Bella Vista Ristorante Italiano. Located on restaurant row up above the city on Grandview Avenue and Mt. Washington, this is a wonderful way to dine while taking in a panoramic view of Pittsburgh. As you peruse the pages of Pittsburgh Point magazine, you’ll find plenty to see and to do. Enjoy your visit. And once again, welcome. A. Robert Scott
