Another Season, Another Time

Time lines are really something.

As I write this for the October issue, Labor Day was just several days ago.

This evening, September 10th, the National Football league season opens with the current Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the Tennessee Titans. When this article appears in October, depending on when you read it, for example, the end of the month, the season will be almost half over. Many teams will have a handle on their seasons and the Steelers may know if there is a chance to repeat back-to-back as champions. Of course, most times and most teams do not.

For many persons, more important things will be on their minds. Like getting a job, keeping their job, paying the next tuition bill, paying other bills, improving or regaining their health, well, you get my point. Sports really is the play land of life. And I suppose that’s all right.

On a brighter and more positive note, the holidays are just around the corner. That is positive, isn’t it?

Early and mid-month, October here provides some of the most spectacular weather and scenery anywhere in the country.

Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, with its rivers and valleys, hills and bluffs, provides a wonderful backdrop for the changing of the leaves and season.

As we careen toward the end of the year, for most of us it’s been some kind of year in so many different ways.

It’s not Thanksgiving yet, but still, why wait till then to display an attitude of
gratitude. To be appreciative and thankful should know no specific holiday or season.

By now, for Pittsburghers, the G-20 Summit is growing more distant as it recedes in the rearview mirrors of our lives.

Keep both hands on the wheel and keep expecting and looking for the best.

Welcome to The Steel City.

Welcome to Pittsburgh.
